Q: What is the schedule and prices?

A: Class Time: Hapkido Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:00 pm to 9:30 pm - Sundays 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.Sundays 12:00 pm to 1:15 pm.

Q: Is Hapkido practical for self-defense?

A: Yes! Unlike Martial sports like Taekwondo and Judo and Combat Sports like Mix Martial Arts Hapkido only purpose and focus is de development of skills to survive an assault in an uncontrolled real life environment. It has been battle tested by the Korean Special forces and Blue House Security Force as well as US Special Forces and Federal Law Enforcement agencies since the Vietnam conflict era.

Q: Is there a great risk of injury in practicing Hapkido?

A: Hapkido has no more no less risk of injury than any other martial art or any intense physical sport.

Q: What are the benefits of Hapkido for women?

A: Hapkido is possibly the most effective tool for self-defense for a woman as it focuses not in physical strength but on technique and the use of the opponents’ strength and momentum against him.

Q: Can children practice Hapkido?

A: Our school only teaches classes for individuals ages 12 YOA and older.

Q: Will Hapkido Get Me In Shape?

A: Most definitely just asked our students; you will see not only aesthetic changes but Hapkido increases your stamina, cardio, and vitality. Changes your mood, focus and gives you a healthier happier outlook in life.

Q: Are there competitions in Hapkido?

A: Some Hapkido schools have deviated from Hapkido’s main focus of self-defense and self-preservation and spiritual development. They have incorporated sports like competition, which are forced to limit the array of techniques used in Hapkido because they would not be appropriate for sports competition. We don’t engage in such practices. Still we do engage in full contact Hapkido sparring drills to enhance the student training experience.

Q: How long does it take to attain black belt status?

A: Achieving a Black Belt should be your goal but not your focus, if you are worried about how long it will take So Won Sool Hapkido is not for you. Many schools now days promote unskilled, poorly trained students with one or two years of training. Our training focuses on training YOU to survive an aggression of one or multiple attackers. If that scenario ever occurs your belt won’t save you. Come and train, work hard, focus on perfecting your technique, be motivated and inquisitive. We assure you that when you get the Black Belt you will have the skills to take care of yourself and protect your love ones. Having said that if you really want to know traditionally a properly trained black belt has at least 4 to 6 years of training under his/her belt prior to been awarded a 1st Degree Black Belt. Still this time can be less or more depending on your dedication, focus and hard work.
